- How many nail polishes do you have?
...I'm not exactly sure, honestly. I used to keep them all orderly in an excel file, but I lost track a little bit. I think around 400? Here's what my collection looks like right now:

NOTD: Lavababy
Today's NOTD is a little unusual, but I'm hoping to do more like it in the future.
Since I was just a wee baby newbie on tumblr, I've been following a fanartist who's style I completely adore, called flatbear. She's a fellow geek and she even works in a comic book shop- living the dream! So I made a manicure based on one of her original characters, Lavababy. (the art is with permission but I didn't ask her if I could put a photo in the post, so this is a link to the image I used for most of my references). I teased this earlier today on instagram with the right hand designs, which were much simpler.
Behold!
My index finger is her dress, my middle finger is her hair (although I may have gone overboard with the flamey bits), my ring finger is her face and her little sideways smile, and my pinky is a kind of abstract of the arm and leg bands she wears. I hope that you like it! This is done entirely in polish, no acrylic paint. Mainly because I didn't have the right colors.
Fun fact: The brown I used for Lavababy's face is chocolate scented!
For the right hand (and the thumb on my left) I went abstractly lava-ish with a black crackle over a gradient base. Do people still use crackle? I miss crackle. Let's bring it back.

Logo! Part 2!
We interrupt your regularly scheduled beauty blogging for the following announcement:
I AM REALLY REALLY EXCITED RIGHT NOW
BECAUSE I HAVE A PROPER FEDORAHARP LOGO
LOOK AT MY LOGOOOOOOOOOO
This adorable thing was commissioned from my talented friend Emilie, you should check out her art blog. I don't know what magic powers she has but she managed to take a pencil sketch I made four years ago and turned it into a bona fide professional looking logo.
I don't really know how to end this, I just wanted to share my hyperness and excitement with you.
Your regularly scheduled beauty blogging will now resume.

31 Days Challenge 2013: Day one- Red
So with some trepidation, I've decided to try to do #31DC2013.
And of course, on day one I left my camera at work. How predictable.
Still, not to leave anyone hanging, I have some pictures anyway! First of all, my friend Hannah has decided to participate with me, and since she doesn't have a blog I'll be posting her stuff alongside mine. She still has some improving to do with her photography, but her freehand is incredible:
And then there's me, who left my camera at work, so I'm going to have to post a rerun for today (oh this is going to go so very well, I can feel it in my bones)
And yes, your eyes do not deceive you: I put in a watermark! I've been meaning to do that for a while. I'm still pretty amateur at it, so if anyone has suggestions on how to make it more aesthetically pleasing, I'm all ears.
Tomorrow will hopefully bring some slightly more successful art. Hopefully. Then again, it's orange, which is a color I generally do *not* get along with. Wish me luck! To see who else is participating, hit the jump!

Reeeeeally quick update
Just checking in to let y'all know that texture polish is apparently something I can tolerate on my fingers. I got myself OPI What Wizardry Is This as a paycheck reward, although I was leery of trying out texture polishes because I couldn't cope with rhinestones. Apparently this I can deal with!
And it's pretty, to boot. I don't have my camera with me, but for good swatch photos I'm always going to recommend Swatch And Learn because she is my favorite polish blogger.
See ya!

NOTD: I have a crappy camera edition
So unfortunately, there was neither sunlight nor a HQ camera for me in the end, so no high quality photos for me today :( Still, I liked this mani so much that I decided to share it, blurry pic or not!
I achieved this look using striping tape.
Polishes used:
Perfect Chic- Base coat
WOW Cosmetics- 434 (which, for the record, is a black jelly with a teal shimmer, but my camera couldn't capture it so it just looks like a dull black)
Chic Metalix- Peacock
Chic Metalix- Citrine Gold
Chic Metalix- Hot Fuchsia
Color Club- Wild At Heart
Seche Vite top coat
Unfortunately, this picture doen't show how amazing and sparkly this was, in reality it looked like a stained glass window. All of the polishes involved are glass fleck jellies. Still, I will probably recreate this look one day (perhaps on all five fingers!) and I will do my damndest to have good photos of it next time.
Bonus picture: My friend Han came over today, and she had adorable Finding Nemo nails! I grabbed a quick photo of her thumb (same quality, unfortunately), to show off my favorite nail- Dory!
Better camera luck next time!

Upcoming swatches + Konadlicious giveaway
Hi everyone!
First order of business: I have the next few days off because of a national holiday, so I finally have time to do swatches! Hopefully over today and tomorrow I'm going to take enough swatch photos for a good 6-7 entries at least, and we can finally get this party started. Who knows, I might even get the first entry up today! I've also been working on some new jewelry lately, so I'm going to get pictures of those up, I hope.
Second order of business: Konadlicious is doing a giveaway! She's another blogger who combines polish with other interests, in her case vintage clothing. I'm fairly bohemian in my own fashion choices, but I LOVE what she wears. Also when I want to get dressed up, I usually end up gravitating towards more vintage styles, so I love looking to her for ideas.
So an announcement to the echo-y silence that is my following: Go check out her amazing, AMAZING giveaway! It's over here.
See you soon! (should that be my official sign-off? Should I HAVE an official sign-off? Does asking this as I'm signing off make me sound silly?)
