31DC2014 Day 9- Rainbow

For today I attempted the bubble technique- it's reminiscent of the nimbus technique created by TheNailsaurus, but it's actually made completely differently. I first encountered this technique as used by Sprinklenails here. My 'bubbles' are a lot less even than hers, but I actually really enjoy how this came out. I got a lot of compliments about it at work, too!

31DC2014 Day 8- Metallic

I actually tried out a few different ideas before I hit on this one. And I'm so glad I did, I think this is my favorite saran wrap mani ever! I used a combination of gold, silver, and bronze to create this look, and at the last second I added the rhinestones, I really think they complete the look. I'm only sad that I only got to wear this for one day.

31DC2014 Day 7- Black and White

I don't have a lot to say about this design, it's simple freehand swirly black designs. I decided to go with a sparkly textured black to keep it interesting, but that's about it. On to the nails!

31DC2014 Day 6: Purple

Happy weekend! I have wanted to improve my glitter placement skills for a long time- I still have room for improvement, but I actually really like how these came out! Fun fact- most of the glitter here is stuff I will be using in a big upcoming project, stay tuned!

31DC2014 Day 5: Blue

Since blue is actually a favorite of mine when it comes to nail art, I decided to use this as an opportunity to play with a style I've been a little insecure about- negative space. My natural nails are really yellow, and no matter what I do I never seem to get my cuticles quite flawless like I see the big time bloggers doing. So I might as well give it a shot when I'm already doing something I like!

31DC2014 Day 4: Green

Green is difficult for me for a different reason than yellow- I actually have too many ideas for it! Today I went with aliens- I used the dry brush technique pioneered by Chalkboard Nails, and I stamped over it with designs from the MoYou Scifi collection, plate 03. The stamps came out kind of faint, so I also went over the designs with a paint brush after. I actually prefer this look to straight up stamps, it feels more homemade, I guess.

31DC2014 Day 3: Yellow

Ah yellow, my old nemesis. I have yet to figure out how to make yellow look good against my skin tone in any consistent manner. I think I handled last year's yellow day ok, but I don't want to do the same thing twice!

I'm still not thrilled how this looks against my skin tone, but I like the pattern, so I'm ok with it.
